Tree Removal Sunshine Coast
Sectional take-downs of dead, leaning or unwanted trees right across the Sunshine Coast — coast blocks, hinterland escarpments, and everything in between.
Removals are the bread and butter of our days on the Sunshine Coast. A hollow paperbark behind a Coolum beachside fence, a snapped hoop pine over a Buderim back deck, a tired old poinciana shedding limbs onto the pool — each one starts with a site walk so we know the access route, the drop zone and the rigging anchors before any saw runs.
Almost every job comes down piece by piece. Sectional dismantling means the climber moves through the canopy with a second line, each limb is roped, lowered and stacked, and nothing free-falls. That is how we work safely above tile rooflines, pool covers, septic lids, retaining walls and the Energex service drop coming into the meter board.
Once the trunk is on the ground we chip the green waste straight into the truck, rake the drop zone clear, and grind the stump below grade if you have ticked that line item. Subtropical species like coastal sheoak and melaleuca grind quickly; hardwood root flares on a hinterland fig take longer and are quoted accordingly.
Across Sunshine Coast we see this work most often near Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and out across the surrounding suburbs — subtropical rainforest with bunya pine, strangler fig and red cedar in Maleny. Species we handle regularly include Hoop Pine (araucaria cunninghamii) and Bunya Pine (araucaria bidwillii), each with its own pruning windows, failure modes, and council protections. Every quote we write factors in the species on site and the access route, not just the visible canopy.

When you might need this
- → A hoop pine, bunya or gum is leaning hard towards the house or pool
- → An ex-cyclone has cracked a co-dominant union and the canopy is hanging
- → Salt spray has rotted the trunk of a coastal paperbark or sheoak
- → Roots are heaving paving, the pool surround or a retaining wall
- → Heavy clay around the root plate is sodden and the tree is moving
- → Council has issued an approval and you want it dismantled cleanly

Tree Removal FAQs
What does it cost to drop a tree on the Sunshine Coast?
Backyard pricing on the Sunshine Coast starts in the few-hundred range for a small softwood and climbs into the thousands for a mature hoop pine, fig or bunya near a roof, pool or Energex service line. Size, access, rigging hours and stump grinding are the four big levers. Send a couple of phone photos through the form and I can give you an indicative number same day.
Will it come down whole or in sections?
Sections, almost without exception. A straight fell only works on open hinterland acreage with nothing in the drop zone. Every coastal yard, every Buderim escarpment block, every Caloundra suburban back fence gets sectional dismantling — climber up, limbs roped, lowered to a defined drop pad.
Do you handle the stump as part of the removal?
Stump grinding is offered as a separate line on the quote. Tick it on and we grind 150–300mm below grade so you can returf, repave or replant within the week. Leave it off and we walk away once the trunk is sectioned out — your call.
How fast can you respond to a dangerous tree?
For genuinely unsafe trees — half-fallen after an ex-cyclone, split union over a pool, leaner moving in saturated clay — we triage by phone and aim to have a crew on site that day. Non-urgent removals are usually booked within the week across the coast and hinterland.
