Emergency Tree Services Sunshine Coast
Round-the-clock callouts for ex-cyclone damage, split unions, fallen trunks and unstable canopies across the coast and hinterland.
Wet-season ex-cyclones moving down the Queensland coast can turn a quiet evening into a half-fallen bunya across a driveway in twenty minutes. When the wind drops and the phones start ringing, we triage by call — what species, what is it touching, is anyone near it, is the service line involved — and prioritise the genuine hazards first.
If a limb is touching wires, sagging onto the service drop or arcing in the rain, the first call has to be Energex on 13 19 62 so the network can be isolated. We don't cut near live conductors. Once power is confirmed safe we move in, rig the broken section out of the canopy and lower it controlled rather than letting it fall a second time.
For storm work that is urgent but not immediately dangerous — a snapped poinciana propped against a Colorbond fence, a hung-up melaleuca limb in the lower crown, a leaning casuarina that survived the gust but moved in the soil — we usually attend same day or first thing the next morning. Every callout includes a hazard assessment, the make-safe work, and a written job note so it can go straight to your insurer.
Across Sunshine Coast we see this work most often near Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and out across the surrounding suburbs — subtropical rainforest with bunya pine, strangler fig and red cedar in Maleny. Species we handle regularly include Hoop Pine (araucaria cunninghamii) and Bunya Pine (araucaria bidwillii), each with its own pruning windows, failure modes, and council protections. Every quote we write factors in the species on site and the access route, not just the visible canopy.

Emergency Tree Services FAQs
Do you actually run overnight callouts?
Yes — phones stay on through the wet season for genuine hazards. We triage by call first to work out whether it's a make-safe-now job or a first-thing-tomorrow job, and whether Energex needs to make the network safe before anyone goes near the tree.
What if a limb is touching the powerline coming into the house?
Stay well clear of the tree, switch the mains off at the meter board if you can do it safely, and ring Energex on 13 19 62. They isolate the network. We can be on site at the same time and start work the moment the service line is confirmed dead.
Will home insurance pick up an ex-cyclone callout?
Most home and contents policies cover removal of a storm-damaged tree that has hit an insured structure — roof, fence, carport, vehicle. Make-safe work is usually part of the same claim. Ring the insurer before you authorise the full removal and ask us for a written job report and Certificate of Currency to attach.
